Zapier

Render from 6,000+ apps (early access).

The PixlDocs Zapier app connects your templates to 6,000+ apps — a new Stripe payment, Shopify order or Typeform response triggers a render, and the finished document flows into the next step: attached to Gmail, saved to Drive, posted to Slack.

Early accessThe app is built and runs as a private Zapier integration while it goes through Zapier's public directory review, so it is not yet searchable in Zapier's app list. Email hello@pixldocs.com and we send an invite link; private apps are fully functional for everyone invited. If you would rather not wait, the recipe below uses Zapier's built-in Webhooks step and works right now.
Proved on 6 Aug 2026
What ran
The app's own render_document.perform() and list_templates dropdown, executed by zapier-platform-core's appTester against the deployed API.
Result
27 templates in the dropdown and a 149,593-byte PDF, byte-identical to the other lanes. The final hand-off step (z.stashFile) needs Zapier's hosted file service and could not be exercised outside Zapier — it is the one link in this lane proved in Zapier's own environment, not ours.

What's in the app

  • Render Document (action) — pick a template from a live dropdown, map fields as key/value pairs or raw JSON (line items included), and get the finished PDF as a file any later step can use.
  • Render Completed (trigger) — fires when an async render finishes, powered by real PixlDocs webhooks that the app subscribes and cleans up automatically.

Without the app: Webhooks by Zapier

This works today, with no invite, and does the same job as the Render Document action.

  1. 01
    Start with your trigger

    Whatever should produce a document — Stripe: Payment succeeded, Typeform: New entry, Shopify: New order.

  2. 02
    Add “Webhooks by Zapier”

    Choose the Custom Request action. Set Method to POST and the URL to:

    text
    https://api.pixldocs.com/v1/render
  3. 03
    Set two headers

    Under Headers, add Authorization with the value Bearer YOUR_API_KEY (from Workspace Settings → API keys), and Content-Type with the value application/json.

  4. 04
    Write the data

    Put this in Data, replacing the template ID with yours and dragging trigger values into the quotes:

    json
    {
      "template_id": "your-template-id",
      "format": "pdf",
      "data": { "client_name": "Acme Ltd", "invoice_number": "INV-1042" }
    }

    Your template's exact keys are listed on its fields page and in the Integrate screen inside PixlDocs.

  5. 05
    Use the file

    Test the step. Zapier stores the returned PDF as a file — pick it in a later Gmail, Drive or Slack step as the attachment.

Typical Zaps

Stripe payment succeeded → render invoice → attach to Gmail.

Typeform submission → render certificate → upload to Google Drive.

Shopify order → render shipping label → send to a fulfilment Slack channel.
